Top jewellery picks, as selected by the OB Jewellery Team

When you’re surrounded by beautifully designed jewellery all day long, it’s not an easy task when someone asks you to select your favourite items, but ask we did. We were curious to know what particular pieces from our latest collections of rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces were catching the eye of our professional magpies. So here the OB Jewellery Team share their top picks from the latest ranges and what makes them stand out.

Lianna Sheppard’s top picks

Lianna Sheppard is OB’s Buyer for Silver, Gemstone and Gold-Plated Jewellery. She’s selected her three favourite jewellery items from the current collections and explains the inspiration behind the designs and how she would style them.

The Adele Snake Ring

I love this chunky yet sculptural ring profile. We have had great success with our interest chains, so have been looking at ways to develop these in to detailed castings to use for other pieces, and we love how this one has come out.

This is great as a standalone piece and would look elegant worn with a simple shift dress, but I think it also styles up nicely alongside other rings, maybe even in a combination of metals. I personally think it would work great as a thumb ring all on its own.

The Carrie Chunky Hoops

We are exploring some larger sizes with our hoop offering this season and these are a personal favourite of mine. We are always working on ways to update our hoops, offering new textures and shapes, and I have no doubt these will become a new staple.

Available in both gold and silver, they can be worn to complement your favourite party dress or equally to add impact to everyday outfits. Personally, I think they look fab with a chunky knit on colder days.

The Maribel Bangle

Our Maribel Bangle is designed with subtle impact in mind. The profile was inspired by sculptural forms and we love the curves and grooves we have achieved with this design. An impactful cuff is a great piece to have in your jewellery range, especially going into a new season.

Wearing a cuff bangle over your sleeve is a great way to upgrade your knitwear, and they are such versatile pieces that you can really have some fun with how you style them. Maribel looks great as as standalone piece worn on its own, but it would also stack up nicely with other styles. You could layer up with chunky silver bangles or fine chain bracelets, or have a play with mixing your metals. There are no rules!

Rebecca Jones’s current favourites

Rebecca Jones is OB’s Senior Buyer for Jewellery and Hair Accessories. She also oversees the development and buying of our costume jewellery, so it’s no surprise that her top three picks from the current collections include some playful pieces. Here she explains why she chose her selections.

The Baroque Drop Earrings

Our jewellery collections will always include a couple of statement pieces and these baroque-style hearts are a unique and super-chic design. Subtly hammered for texture that catches the light, and with a stylish matte gold finish, they’re balanced out top and bottom with a little clover shape set with a brown resin stone.

They have such impact on their own, they’d really lift a simple little black dress for an occasion. But I like to bring unexpected drama to everyday-wear too, so I say team them with a chunky knit or simple T-shirt for an impactful hit of glamour.

The Heart Locket

Heart necklaces aren't just for Valentine’s - they’re perfect all year round. The stone detailing on our Melanie Heart Locket makes it really stand out as something special. I love the double chains, too, adding effortless layering all within one piece.

Heart lockets are a firm favourite in this latest collection. We like to update the profile every season and for spring we really wanted to bring more detail and sparkle. This involves the addition of more stones - never a bad thing in my eyes!

As much as it would make a great gift for someone special, I think this would also make a stylish self-purchase to layer up over cosy knits or a printed dress.

The Butterfly Stud Earrings

These butterfly stud earrings are so sparkly and impactful and will go with everything. I love the mix of colours we’ve used together and I think the scale of the earrings is really easy to wear for various occasions. They would add interest to a casual daytime look, but equally the pop of colour and sparkle make them an ideal day-to-date-night earring.

The butterfly motif is strong throughout this collection. It’s whimsical and hints at spring approaching. We wanted to inject some colour and sparkle and really thought about the layout of the stones and the colour positioning. Statement studs are a key trend for this season, as people are seeking out something more interesting than the simpler, everyday designs.
