Get to know Cat
Through putting colourful outfits together and photographing/filming them to share on my socials. My sweet spot is mixing new purchases with vintage finds for a unique look. I also love to draw, paint and craft, which I've rediscovered since having kids and helping them with school projects, etc.
How does this bring you joy?
Clothes can be such a powerful expression and I find that wearing a colourful outfit I love instantly boosts my mood. I often hear that I've inspired others to wear more colour, which has made them feel happy, and that brings me so much joy! Helping my kids with their creative projects, passing on what I know and love, brings me the most joy. I love to see their ideas flowing through.
Who or what is your creative inspiration?
I am so inspired by nature! By animal prints (leopard print being my absolute fave), by all the beautiful colours in nature, especially flower colour combos. Vintage pieces also hugely inspire me! I love all things vintage, from furniture to vases, Vogue magazine covers. Even vintage clothes themselves inspire me. I like to imagine the life they had before, where they may have been worn and by whom!
How did you start your creative journey?
Ever since I was a kid I loved a charity shop and a car boot sale rummage. I wanted to express myself through the clothes I wore and had to get creative, as didn’t have the funds to buy everything I wanted. So I would save up for maybe one key piece and style it up using secondhand finds. I enjoyed the uniqueness and the challenge of it, which has stayed with me and underpins my style today.
What advice would give someone embarking on a journey of creative self expression?
My biggest piece of advice would be to just get started! Your creative expression doesn't have to be ‘perfect’, it just needs to be authentic to you. Once you get started, you'll find what works and refine along the way. Be brave and be true to yourself!
