5 shoe styles to wear with a jumpsuit this spring

It’s no secret that we’re fans of jumpsuits here at OB. When it comes to comfort, style and versatility, they fit into your wardrobe just as easily as a dress would and are a great item of clothing to invest in as they can work for most occasions. From weekend-ready utility-style boiler suits to sleeveless jumpsuits for summer and softer shapes with luxe fabrics and fancy detailing that you can take out for drinks, jumpsuits come in all shapes. But it can be tricky to decide what footwear works best, so we asked our Fashion Stylist Lynda for a cheat sheet on pairing your jumpsuit style with your shoes. You can thank us later.

The bold one

‘This eye-catching denim boilersuit works well with a statement sporty flat sandal for a cool yet subtle pop of colour,’ says Lynda. ‘As this is a roomier shape of jumpsuit, open toes are a must-have to break up the material and go easier on the eye.’ She recommends sandals, especially our Teva sandals for their comfort and sporty aesthetic.

Behind the brand: Teva

Teva is the original sport sandal, born out of necessity to prevent sandals from floating downstream when a resourceful river guide strapped two Velcro watchbands to a pair of old flip-flops. Since then, Teva has retained its pioneering spirit and celebrates the freedom to explore.

The printed one

‘When you start with a printed jumpsuit (or dress) it generally makes sense to calm down when it comes to selecting shoes, accessories or other clothing to go with it, as it’ll keep your look balanced,’ says Lynda. ‘Opt for neutrals or monochrome, but being as we are OB after all, even our classics have a twist! The ruffled straps on these flatforms will soften the strong jungle print perfectly.’

The utility one

‘A classic and always-trending style, this may be one of the most versatile jumpsuits you could have in your collection,’ says Lynda. ‘The breast pockets and zips give an extra level of detail that means this one can work harder than more simple styles. It looks great dressed down at weekends, but we also love to see blue paired with gold for a fresh, polished look, whether that’s a flat or a heel. Stack on a few chunky cuffs and a pair of sunglasses and you’re all set.’

Behind the brand: Anonymous

Danish footwear brand Anonymous offers classic styles inspired by Scandinavian minimalism with a fun twist and a touch of vintage. Each shoe is crafted from Italian, Spanish or Portuguese leather by a team of artisan shoemakers and their production process is fully traceable.

The wide-leg one

‘The combination of a cropped wide leg and neutral khaki colour means this jumpsuit is the perfect base for a brightly coloured pair of sporty trainers,’ says Lynda. ‘We love Genesis (coming to Oliver Bonas end of May), for their retro styling and range of delicious colour ways. Undo a couple of buttons at the neckline of your jumpsuit for a more flattering neckline that balances out the wider leg.’

The mini-break one

‘Comfy enough for travelling in (layer a tee underneath if you get chilly en route) and stylish enough for wearing on its own while on a summer break, we love the versatility of a sleeveless jumpsuit,’ says Lynda. 'Wear with chic neutral sandals to keep that relaxed-luxe feel and roll up the hems to show off a bit of skin and create your own look. Add a layered necklace or anklet and then switch yourself onto out-of-office mode.’
