Behind the design
‘We love taking traditional textile techniques and giving them a contemporary twist,’ says Home & Gift Buyer, Alys Webb. Our tufted cushions are a great example - their textured finish is created by repeatedly threading, or punching, yarn through a stretched fabric backing to build a dense, tactile fabric. Our supplier is an expert in wool-based products, and each cushion will have a slightly different finish due to the handmade process. ‘We chose a wool blend in rich, impactful colour combinations, combined with tongue-in-cheek phrases that add personality,’ says Alys.
