Caring for outerwear

Whether it’s a coat, jacket or rainwear, our outerwear is designed to be durable and functional as well as stylish. With the right care, you can help maintain its look, comfort and performance over time. Always check the care label first – outerwear comes in a range of materials and constructions, so not all fabrics are machine washable, and some may require specialist DRY cleaning. Refer to our washing care guide for more information. Keep your outerwear looking its best with the following washing tips.

How to wash

To clean a light mark or everyday dirt, spot-clean where possible using a damp cloth or sponge and mild soap, rather than washing the entire garment.

When washing is needed, refer to the care label and if the garment is machine washable:

1. Prepare your garment - Fasten any zips or buttons, remove detachable collars and turn the item inside out before washing.

2. Wash alone to prevent damage from friction with other garments.

3. Select the wash cycle recommended on the care label.

4. Remove garment from machine promptly after washing to prevent creasing.

5. Lay garment flat or hang on a coat hanger to air-dry. If drying outside, protect delicate fabrics from direct sunlight.

6. Reshape the garment while damp.
