Low-impact denim

Creating new clothing items for our collections involves a lot of thought, and it goes much further than design, fit and durability. We are always looking at ways we can reduce our environmental impact, working with our suppliers to see where we can make improvements to materials and production processes.

To reduce the impact of our denim, we have focused on the
following areas with our core collection:

  • Fit: First and foremost, it was important to get the fit just right, and the team spent a lot of time on this.

  • Sustainable materials: The jeans are made from organic cotton, which not only uses less water in raw material production, but the avoidance of chemical pesticides and fertilisers helps protect biodiversity.

  • Circularity: We have removed unnecessary hardware, such as rivets, to make the jeans easier to recycle at the end of their life via our take-back programme (after they’ve spent many years as a wardrobe staple).

  • Eco-friendly Processes: We've used Jeanologia washing technology, which reduces the amount of water, chemicals and electricity used in the finishes that are applied for quality or aesthetic purposes.

About Jeanologia

Collaborating closely with brands, retailers, and suppliers, Jeanologia uses disruptive technologies, innovative EIM software and a progressive new operating model to transform the textile journey.

If there is no measurement, there is no improvement

EIM is a unique and powerful software platform that measures the environmental impact of a garment finishing process at a product's manufacturing stage, in order to make the process as eco-friendly as possible. It evaluates four categories: water consumption, chemical impact, energy consumption and worker impact.

Each process is scored and classified under three levels: Low, Medium or High Impact, according to standardised benchmarks. EIM includes more specific benchmarks for denim finishing, garment washing and garment dyeing, ensuring that results are accurate, comparable and relevant to each process.

A low-impact score means that the garment finishing required significantly less water, energy and chemicals compared to industry benchmarks, with results verified by EIM software. Using this methodology enables manufacturers and brands to measure their processes with precision, track improvements and communicate environmental performance in a transparent and verifiable way.
