5 simple tips to help you work from home

In the last few months, many of us have had to quickly adapt to working from home, adjusting to a different environment without the colleagues or resources we’re used to. Trying to maintain productivity while working remotely can take some getting used to, so we’ve put together five quick and easy tips to help make working from home a little easier.
1. Dress up your deskWhether you’re working at a desk or using the kitchen table, creating a designated workspace will help you focus during the day, and switch off after hours. Add homeware and furniture ranging from the practical, think lighting and storage lockers, to the decorative, such as plant pots for fresh greenery or an uplifting piece of wall art. 3. Bookend your day with routineTo prepare you for the day ahead and help you decompress in the evening, create a ‘commute’ with a daily routine. Whether it’s putting on makeup, cooking a delicious meal, meditating or watering your plants, it will ease you in and out of your working day, and help to create a sense of normalcy in a very abnormal time.2. Take regular breaksWorking from home means you can relax your workwear wardrobe and wear whatever feels most comfortable to you. If your job requires more corporate attire for video calls, try a nice top or piece of knitwear to look presentable from the waist up, paired with something more laid-back such as loungewear, a knitted skirt or a jumper dress.
4. Curate a new work wardrobeIn addition to taking a lunch break, schedule in time to step away from your work - and screen - for a few minutes. Stretch your body by standing up and away from your desk, and recharge by going for a walk outside for some fresh air, doing some yoga, reading a book, or making a fresh pot of coffee. It will help you focus, and break up the day too. 5. Keep activeTry a free home workout on YouTube, head outdoors for an hour-long walk, or stretch your body with pilates or yoga.
